787 Design Studio represents two sets of diverse experiences and expertise—in addition to both a male and female perspective—working in tandem to compose a truly singular vision for every home. Our process is hands-on and collaborative from start to finish, ensuring a close, trusting relationship with each client.
Our work is holistic, prioritizing the experiential nature of the entire home as opposed to individual spaces. We design for those who not only live in their homes, but who value the craft, quality, and care required to sustain them for generations.
Team

Patrick Mackie, AIA Founder/Principal
Patrick, a Houston native, began his career outside Texas before returning with a renewed appreciation for home. After earning his architecture degree from Louisiana State University and early experience at a residential firm, he worked in Washington, D.C., on large-scale civic and commercial projects. In 2005, he moved with his wife, Liz, to Austin, where he refined his skills at two leading residential firms and became a licensed architect. In 2017, he founded 787 Design Studio, focusing on custom residential design rooted in relationship. Today, Patrick and Liz live with their children, Isaac and Lucy, on five wooded acres in South Austin—surrounded by the landscape and lifestyle that inspire his work.
Paige Lawrence, AIA Principal
Paige was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, and raised in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Vanderbilt University’s School of Engineering in Nashville before moving to Los Angeles to work for an interiors and kitchen design firm, where she discovered her love of design. She pursued this newfound passion further by earning a Master of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) and becoming a licensed architect. Drawn back to Texas with her husband, Wes, Paige spent five years at a notable residential architectural firm before joining 787 Design Studio. She and Wes now live in South Austin with their two children, Cooper and Grace.

At 787 Design Studio, architectural design begins with a thorough pre-construction phase, including client questionnaires and detailed site analysis to establish project goals and buildable areas. Our design process evolves from hand sketches and inspiration imagery to advanced 3D renderings and CAD drawings, encompassing floor plans, elevations, electrical plans, and detailed construction documents. We coordinate with all consultants to ensure a seamless transition from concept through construction, maintaining clear communication as the central point of contact. Our comprehensive services guide projects from initial vision to final build, honoring each structure’s inherent potential while infusing it with modern livability.
